In her opening remarks, Dr. Lou Yunhe, Executive President of the Asia-Pacific Association for Science and Technology, stated, “Science is the beacon of humanity’s exploration of the unknown and the ladder of civilization’s progress. Today, we are establishing the ‘Scientists’ Club’ to create an informal yet vibrant space for the exchange of ideas—not only a salon for the collision of inspirations, but also a fertile ground for cross-disciplinary integration and a bridge for friendly cooperation.” She emphasized that the club will be committed to breaking down disciplinary barriers, promoting dialogue across multiple fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, engineering technology, and ethics, and fostering scientific creativity to germinate through exchange and take root through collaboration.
Dr. Lou Yunhe further pointed out that the Asia-Pacific region, as one of the most dynamic and innovative regions in the world, urgently needs a free, open, and inclusive platform to stimulate local scientific creativity and build a close-knit collaborative network. “We hope that the light of science can not only illuminate laboratories, but also help address global challenges such as climate change, public health, and sustainable development.”
The inaugural “Singrass Talk” featured a presentation by Mr. Li Ruiwu, founder of Singrass Technology, on the theme of “Urban Indoor Air Optimization”.

Mr. Li Ruiwu pointed out that in 1983, the World Health Organization published the “Sick Building Syndrome (SBS)”. This is an urbanization problem with more complex and serious indoor pollution sources than air conditioning sickness. In Asian countries like Singapore, very few buildings taller than 10 stories are over 40 years old. During these past 40 years of rapid urbanization, high-rise buildings have sprung up like mushrooms after rain, either completely sealed without windows or relying solely on air conditioning. In tropical regions like Singapore, over 90% of people spend over 90% of their time indoors.
In 1970, the United States passed the Clean Air Act. German and American scientists conducted in-depth research on indoor environmental pollution, proposing three main characteristics of indoor air pollution: cumulativeity, meaning that trace pollutants entering indoors through central air conditioning or fresh air systems accumulate indoors; complexity, meaning that all pollutants present in outdoor air are also present indoors, and volatile organic compound (VOC) pollution from interior decoration and renovation exacerbates indoor air pollution. Low concentration and long-term effects: Although formaldehyde and TVOCs exist at low concentrations, their volatilization period can last for 10-15 years, still posing a threat to human health.

SINGRASS in Singapore has long been committed to research on “indoor environment, plant communities, and human health.” Utilizing the SINGRASS®️ Indoor Intelligent Ecosystem ISES™️, it cultivates plant communities in indoor environments, bringing the Singapore Botanic Gardens to every floor and every household in every high-rise building. This allows people working, studying, and engaging in activities within these spaces to enjoy the botanical garden’s habitat, breathe fresh, forest-like air, and enjoy the “freshest, pollution-free, and traceable” leafy greens. Through harvesting and eating these vegetables, they can also experience the therapeutic benefits of physical and mental well-being.
Following Mr. Li’s presentation, a relaxed dialogue ensued, focusing on issues related to air optimization in enclosed spaces. Attendees shared their perspectives. Professor Lin Fujiang believes that “Clearing rooms” in the chip manufacturing industry are most in need of air optimization systems like Singrass to address the health concerns faced by employees in chip manufacturing companies. Mr. Ong Kok Chye, Vice President of Great Eastern Insurance, also believes that air quality in modern office spaces is indeed a significant cause of health problems, and he believes that Singrass provides office workers with an excellent work environment optimization system. Participants engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as technological innovation trends, industry-academia-research integration, and the ethics of future technologies.
The atmosphere was lively, with scholars and industry experts discussing cutting-edge developments and sharing practical experiences amidst the aroma of coffee and candid dialogue, initially building cross-disciplinary cooperation links.
